A street artist on a grand scale, with a lifetime of using paint to produce new textures and inspire thought and emotion. Over 20 years ago, he made a name for himself as a graffiti artist; now he works with some of the most respected muralists in the world. Col’s work mixes 3D styles, lettering, heavy brushstrokes and strong drip work—in an open medium of acrylics, spray paint, oil, paper and found objects— creating a dynamic play on structure and a strong graphic experience for the viewer.

‘Making change’ are buzz words we hear everyday. There is an innate need in us all to mobilize new paths towards bettering lives, our community and ideologies. Yet non-profits and social good initiatives mushroom at a rapid pace, sometimes with clear objectives, other times more of a conversation at the water cooler. What exactly is the action of ‘change’? There is a measured restrain for some to marinade, research, step back till the exact solution is uncovered. On the opposite of the scale sits a ‘doing it now’ philosophy, one rooted in developing the solution in parallel of making mistakes. Is one better than the other? Which strategy suits which cause?

Bomb Beer and The Gallery@Hotel Indigo-Athens are proud to present “The Board Room,” an art exhibit that features 55+ skate decks designed by local artists! “The Board Room” is a part of the 2012 Summer of SPOA, a series of events to benefit the Skate Park of Athens.

Help us celebrate the opening of “The Board Room” on Thursday June 14, 2012 from 6:30-9:30pm. The opening reception will feature complimentary hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and live music from DJ Winston Parker. Meet fellow skaters, Athens’ artists and those who support both the Athens art & skateboard communities.

We partnered up with Billy The Artist, a native of the East Village, to design our Bomb Lager cans. We could look at Billy’s art for days. It’s vibrant, it’s complex, it’s subtle and intricate at the same time. Every time we check his stuff out something new always catches our eye.
